Cheri Honkala is from the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign and was Dr. Jill Stein’s running mate and choice for Vice-President for the Green Party in 2012.  Her work has involved supporting people to achieve human rights through projects of survival, movement building, and educational tools.  The campaign works to advance economic human rights specifically named in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights- such as the rights to food, housing, health, education, communication and a living wage job.

Honkala told The Nation Report that her group has undergone various acts of repression against proposed or planned actions during the upcoming Democratic National Convention to be held in Philadelphia this week.  She is a Philadelphia resident and said that as a Green Party supporter, her planned actions have been stifled by the city of Philadelphia or by what she thinks are factions within the Democratic Party.  Here she talks about just a few:
